Passage of SB10 for reservoir pleases farmers and environmental groups

The passage of Senate Bill 10 by the Florida House and Senate today drew praise from diverse groups including farmers and environmentalists.

The bill calling for a $1.5 billion, 78.2 billion gallon reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee now goes to Gov. Rick Scott. Publicly-owned land will be used for the reservoir aimed at keeping discharges from the lake entering the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee estuaries.
