Dear Friends,
Get out your calendars and mark them for Thursday, November 21 for the 7th annual Farm City Luncheon, our annual event that brings together urban and rural residents to celebrate the important relationship between farmers, consumers, community leaders, and everyone in between who contributes to the community’s safe, abundant food supply.
Always a Sold-Out Event!
Each year One Martin partners with the Martin County Farm Bureau to shine a light on one of the biggest drivers of the economy in our community – agriculture. Over the years, we’ve met fourth and fifth generation farmers, learned about best practices on our local ranches and farms, and sampled seafood from local aquaculture sources.
This year’s event is once again being hosted at Rockin H Ranch in Palm City. Tickets sell quickly so make sure to buy yours as soon as you’re finished reading this newsletter. Or consider becoming a sponsor to guarantee a seat at the table!
Today’s Farmer and the World of Tomorrow: Innovations in Agriculture
Today’s farmer is just as likely to be monitoring irrigation systems on an electronic spreadsheet as driving a tractor. This whole new world in agriculture – a technological one – is our focus this year.
Dr. Kati Migliaccio is our keynote speaker. Dr. Migliaccio is the Chair of the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida and was a pioneer in developing Smartphone Apps for irrigation management. Currently she is working across UF and IFAS to foster innovative technology and its application in agriculture, natural, and human systems to meet present and future society needs.
She’s going to help us understand and appreciate the technological advancements that are shaping the future of agriculture in Florida.
We’re feeding our local community, the nation, and the world, folks! We need every tool we can find to boost our crops and protect our natural resources.
Sponsors for the Farm City Luncheon can be sure of being right in the action as movers and shakers from the lake to the coast come together at Rockin H. Reserve your sponsorship onlineon our website or by contacting Melissa Zolla at melissa@fireflyforyou.com or 772-287-5272.
If you are unable to sponsor, ticketsare only $65 each. You’ll have a great educational experience and a fantastic locally sourced luncheon among a lively group of people who care about the future of ag.
Hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Rick Hartman and the One Martin Board of Directors
