What is One Martin?

One Martin is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization dedicated to creating a more informed citizenry, building a more prosperous community, and providing opportunities for civil discussions on topics of importance to Martin County.

Why was One Martin founded?

When One Martin was founded in 2017, the community was coping with an unprecedented volume of misinformation being distributed through social media. Good people were angry with each other because of misleading news disguised as facts.

As we get more and more “news” at a faster and faster pace on all sorts of electronic platforms, the possibility for misunderstanding has grown larger and the need for fact-based discussions has increased exponentially.

One Martin is proud to be an organization that stands for facts and respectful discussions.

What is One Martin's goal?

To create a culture in Martin County where diverse interests respectfully work together to cultivate an informed citizenry and build a prosperous community. One Martin is committed to

  • encouraging local government at all levels to operate ethically, civilly, efficiently, and transparently.
  • helping the entire community to better understand and respect the important role agriculture plays in Martin County’s local economy.
  • shedding light on the initiatives that protect natural lands, water quality, and wildlife habitat.
Is it a political organization?

No. One Martin is issue-oriented, not partisan. We are neither Republican nor Democrat. Our interest is in politics in its broadest sense - how policies are developed, how societies work together for a common good, and how communities come together to determine their future.

Does One Martin have members?

One Martin is an inclusive organization. There are no dues or membership qualifications. Everyone is welcome to sign up for our newsletters and lend their voices to the conversation.
